    Thank you for the response. I have both HIVE keys set up for Owner = Administrator. And the edit keys in DCOMcnfg are still grayed even after i tried a reboot. I work in the IT department and I am logged in and part of the Administrator group.

    Hi,

    Both hive keys need to be owned by "Administrators" first as described before in this thread.
    Only then you can change permissions in DCOMcnfg.

    Also make sure your account is part of the administrators group.

    Cheers,

    @mbraecklein

    Must be Administrators - plural.

    When you are finished, put the ownership back to TrustedInstaller by doing a copy/paste of the following in the ownership dialog box and clicking "check names".....

    NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller

    Ok I took a look one more time and verified everything is done coreectly. open regedit with admin rights, navigate to HKeyClassesRoot\CLSId and found id in question, right click then Permissions and temporarily change owner from TrustedInstaller to Administrators.
    Same for HKEYLocalMachine\Appid.
    I could use Administrators with an S. Got this error message. An object (User, Group, or Built-in security principal) with the following name cannot be found. "Administrators". Check the selected object types and locations for accuracy and ensure that I have typed the object name correctly, or remove this object from the selection.

    So once again the edit keys are grayed out. Any ideas.

    Make sure all of these are checked in object types. Enter administrators, and click "check names". Then OK, then APPLY. You must also give Administrators FULL CONTROL on the first screen. Windows 10 Event ID 10010 and 10016 Errors With DistributedCOM-2016-10-04_17h26_35.png

    You have the wrong one selected. You're trying to give full to ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES. Highlight Administrators, then check the full control box, then apply.

    Hold down the Windows key and press R (WinKey+R) Type WINVER and press enter. Post a screenshot of the display.
