Windows Performance Recorder for Windows 10

Windows has both a Performance monitor and a Resource monitor with the print option available in Actions while running each of the two system tools.



The screen shows the two side by side monitoring things with live charts.. While the tool is running you have to look at the task bar running along underneath the main bar to locate the print icon as seen in the next screen here.



You will notice the sub folders under the button you click on to start the tool indicating where the logs are stored which can be exported for viewing purposes.

Apparently you were looking at some outdated freebie app and nothing you want on 10 to begin with. I have numerous downloads I tried out on 7 that will still run on 10 but some of those are definitely a pooch 10 recipe for Big Time Headaches! For one any registry cleaner or other utility was written before Windows 8 which brought in the dual platform type of system registy structure. While in the same identical layout an antiquated utility wasn't written for the changes where some values are no longer seen as well as new ones for other things now being seen.

The Performance and Resource monitors are included in the new version and were written specifically for 10. And likely 8 and 8.1 seeing them there too. In time a bunch of 3rd party wares are bound to be seen that will be intended for 8, 8.1, and 10 while a good deal of the stuff still found is XP, Vista, 7 types with nothing coming out new for either XP now DOA and Vista soon to go bye bye from the list of actively supported OSs! With the new version out now you will want to stay as new as possible when looking for any apps that will work with 10. Even the old reliable System Info for Windows tool that gives you a complete breakdown on softwares as well as hardwares now sees a new version for 10 for Pro and Tech licenses with a freebie still found out on the web as a trial version. That has live temperature/voltage sensors as well as the excellent breakdown of system information.

I think you will find that you found a Windows 8.1 update that can be used on 7 as well as 8, 8.1, and 10 there.

In order to diagnose your problem you will need to download and install the below. We suggest you create a restore point before running the trace. It is safe in the vast majority of situations but it cant hurt to have one.

I'm giving this one a good look while it is listed for 10 as well as for use with the previous versions.. It's included with several tools including the one I didn't check off being for SQL server application you generally would leave for the IT tech not intended for the home pc unless having a Windows home server type set up.

This was developed primarily for people to post logs for diagnostic purposes at the MS community site however. If you were running Insider Builds you would want to have something like this onhand for debugging as well as evaluation purposes. It won't be a quickie tool however since it will tend to be a little more involved since it provides a lot of details. So read up on it! :)

I haven't tried on 7 yet until booted into 7 or running the second case remotely. But the ADK has several items on a check list to go over and decide which ones you want to see installed. The installer will add a new "Windows kits" folder under W in the Start menu there.

Other then seeing that these are stand alone tools you run on Windows not change Windows with. In the Programs & Features you will see the "Windows Assessment and Deployment kit for Windows" item there when going to uninstall. That one item will remove everything at once. I would still keep tabs on anything that should come up however. This was posted on the page there under "General Discussion":

Now for any concerns about the tools or anything else in general it's always a good idea to create a few system restore points just in case something should go sideways on you! Personally I was waiting to get the desktop shortcut and found there are three downloads available for manually creating them in the guide. 1)create without prompt to name the point and no confirmation it was created 2)Provide a description without successfully created message confirmation and 3)Prompt for description with confirmation message when created. Well obviously many will opt for the one that displays "successfully created" which was selected here as well.



When right clicking or double clicking on the zip file a new folder will be created where you simply go in and right click on the vbs file itself and choose the create shortcut option to drag that onto the desktop. Once you have entered a description like date and/or Windows Assessment and Deployment kit for example before running out of space for the text you will then see a separate popup message appear after clicking the ok button.



If you have a large drive you can go about clicking that several times within a week while for tight drive space you would want to check how much space is allocated for points. You don't want to run out of drive space too fast! oops!
