    Messy tasks in startup

    Hello
Are there ways to cleanup the list in startup. Im seeing a lot of subtasks ( i have no idea what are these subtasks ) and scripts that i dont need and im not sure were put there through my direct action. ( there doesnt seem to be any viruses tho)

    You can:
    - uninstall programs that start up that you don't need

    - disable startups using e.g.
    - the task manager (startup tab)
    - Ccleaner (but beware, most recent versions have been heavily criticised for other reasons after it was taken over)
    - Autoruns (more technical, free from MS) - allows deletion of entry too.
(use cautiously if unfamiliar with such tools)

A long list of startup items may not be prejudicial in itself, although it may then take longer for your PC to become quiescent from logging in. The question is rather what the idle resource usage is.

Recommend you back up appropriately before making changes, and check everything you do.
Some programs you've installed may add startup items, leading to some you don't immediately recognise.

I have about 39- some created by installed progs, some very small progs, a number of these relate to security, a number to GUI mods, and some are neat convenience tools I use routinely.

    Hello americanu,

In addition, you could temporarily disable startup items to make sure you don't need them before deleting them.
