Hi folks,
I have spent several days on and off investigating this and have gotten nowhere. Every single tip mentioned in the thread, from start to finish, has been performed, and my monitor still goes out after five minutes. No setting that I have been able to find is set to five minutes... This is the point where I give up for the time being.
The solution right now is that I have written a small Windows Application that prevents the system from going into any form of save mode regarding the monitor. I start it when I start work and I close it at night. A sad solution, but nonetheless working. I will clean up the code and post a link to the app here so that any of you sufferers can use it until it is resolved.
A good thing is that if someone could start a documentation of all parameters, registry or GUI, that affect this, and we can all add to it. I am a bit short of time, though...
So, now I can work my two computers without having to fiddle the mouse on the other every few minutes. Nice! Microsoft: bad mess!
All the best,
Per
Microsoft hosts its own forums in TechNet. I've never felt that Microsoft development personnel ever look at those forums, much less the fantastic independent "Ten Forums, Eight Forums, Seven Forums". It's rather sad actually. I believe all development staff need to staff the end-user support desks and forums a few hours a week to hear from actual users.
Nobody hears your screams in space or in Microsoft. I'm grateful for the open ears and support provided to and by each other in Ten Forums.
Same as Cryomerlin, I would like to thank Stratowar for fixing the bug in the W10.
I'm still testing the computer now, and it seems okay.
Question: can we change the sleep time in the power option now with Stratowar's setting?
Since installing build 10586 I no longer have the sleep issue.

Hi. Same issue and I fixed using the regedit solution.
Many, many, many thanks.
I am having a similar issue, however mine is not a case of the display turning off/a blank screen saver. The laptop just goes to sleep, but not just after being idle, it does it while you are using it. I was in the middle of typing something yesterday and it went into sleep mode, woke itself up, then as I was typing the password in it went to sleep again. This repeated a number of times before it would stay awake long enough for me to put the password in. Then it would stay awake for a maximum of 5 minutes before flickering in and out of sleep mode. I have tried the regedit method that stratowar mentioned, along with all other methods mentioned in this thread. Nothing seems to have worked. It is set to never sleep on battery and while plugged in, unattended sleep time out is set to 24 hours (I have tried this at various different times and it had no effect), hard disk is set to never turn off, same for the display. I checked the BIOS and there was no mention of any sleep settings in there.
I was wondering if anyone else has had it go to sleep whilst they were actually working on it, because from what I can tell for everyone else it has been when the machine was left idle for a minute or two, and I don't recall anyone mentioning that it continuously goes to sleep, wakes itself up, goes to sleep again a few seconds later, then wakes up again. For lack of a technical term at this moment, I shall diagnose my machine with narcolepsy.
If anyone has anymore ideas I would love to hear them, as I am considering doing a fresh install of 10 but I would rather save that as a complete last resort.
