Windows 10 suddenly wants to trim a mechanical HD

    Just read the thread re retrimming which my W10 has started reporting on all my drives which includes 2 x HDD. Kinda related to this thread. I just ran Defraggler. Selecting a 2GB WD HDD a warning box popped up stating the selected drive was an SSD and did I want to continue. Another 4GB WD HDD is reported correctly. SMR related?

    Defraggler is trying to tell you that you are getting ready to physically defrag an SSD. It will do it and beat the you-know-what out of the cells, or Defraggler is wrongly sensing the drive type, or you are. Just so there is no confusion here, state exactly what you mean by SMR, and why you need Defraggler. It will help. Oh, and what Berton said. Fix your typos of GB and make them TB.

    Give HDD specifics (ie. model numbers and how they are connected to your PC). SMR related is not likely as it has nothing to do with the disk controller which reports as to media type.
