And there's more to it than just rebooting. Driver updates, BIOS updates, Windows updates - dunno if they/U do all that.

This is a new second-hand computer so a fresh install of windows, drivers & BIOS done in the last month or two. I'm sure I've done it but will purposely try what you say to see if that helps with the update keeping sleep from working.

If I had my way I would rarely reboot and let my computers sleep when they are not being used. However, I have using Windows for more than 26 years now and have found it necessary to reboot as needed to clean up perceived glitches. Like I said I am glad when my computer occasionally is kept awake by MoUsoCoreWorker.exe if it is only to notify me when there is a Windows Update problem. I realize that leaving my computers awake or sleeping for a long time may contribute to the Windows Update problem but I am not going to worry about that now.

The main reason for lack of concern is because my computer rarely sleeps anymore and it has nothing to do with MoUsoCoreWorker.exe. My computer has not stayed asleep since I installed Acronis True Image 2021. This has been going on for more than four weeks now. I have sought help on the Acronis forums and even Acronis support but have not found a solution yet.

MoUsoCoreWorker.exe and Windows Update only prevents sleep a few times a year while Acronis True Image 2021 prevents sleep every day.

Sounds like it to me. Funny how one person can see it as a silver lining (I'll have to adopt this attitude) while the next person wants to dismiss it as an annoyance and override it.

Well err, just as well you didn't hear the expletives what were ushering forth from my mouth a couple of days ago when for the umpteenth time my Windows desktop wasn't doing what I thought it should be doing

If I knew how to address the underlying issue I would do so - but I have yet to see an established way of doing so. Having checked for updates manually and found nothing pending, what would you do next? If I knew what was to be gained by allowing MoUsoCoreWorker to prevent sleep, I would happily let it - but as I understand it, it is (or has been recognised as) a bug, and I don't see any point in just sitting around with a non-sleeping PC until MS fixes it.

Bear in mind that this hasn't happened just once - I first identified the problem on my PC last December, then it went away, only to re-emerge last week.

So it's only happened twice in months/years that the PC would not sleep?

Do you currently have MoUsoCoreWorker overridden?

No & yes - Sleep issues have arisen many times previously, but not due to this bug, afaik. But this particular cause has (to my knowledge) 'happened twice' - meaning that for some period (days or weeks), until I did something, the PC would not sleep. A few days ago the issue recurred, so I ran the override again yesterday.

I would welcome a 'better' solution - preferably one that did not result in the same sleep issue only a few weeks or months later.
