CPU fan running at full speed in Windows 10

my PC was built for me by a professional so not a generic build
intel core i7 930
it is using alot of power

Solved. Occam's Razor, of course. For most, the fan runs constantly because the hard disk is being accessed almost continuously. Go to "Settings" on the menu. Under settings, click on the System icon, choose Notifications. Click to "off" the five switches on the right (tips on windows seems to be the culprit, but none is crucial, and all will boost disk access). exit settings and restart. You won't believe the difference.

I found that same tip somewhere else. My laptop was suddenly heating up ( installed Windows 10 yesterday)
All I did was switch the tips on windows one off and the fan is quiet and laptop cool again within 10 minutes.

This solved my problem! In device manager i found "AMD Radeon 7400m" and "AMD Radeon HD 7640g + HD 7400m" I deleted the first one and the problem was solved

Edit, ok i had to remove the other one since AMD crimson gave an error that there is no video card driver installed.

I had this problem when i brought the Laptop Dell Inspiron 3542 i5 a day back and followed all the solutions discussed
in the forum without success, however by chance while trying to fix i have to restart the laptop and noticed a message while booting stating something like this... " Factory mode - pls press Fn + X", whoa, whoa....is it something i should try fix the problem? I asked my self and finally found out that it is the solution, on the desktop ( In Windows 10 pls choose desktop tile ) i just pressed " Fn + x " key, bingo the fan went quite :)...., hope this help.

I have found what is going wrong with the AMD A series APU's and windows 10.
Somehow my laptop thinks (dont know if its windows 10 or the amd driver or whatever) that my cpu is at a much higher temperature than it really is. Piriform Speccy shows 95C but it's way colder than that. I know that because the air coming out of the ventilator is ice cold. If i remove the drivers and let windows 10 install their own PiriformSpeccy shows 37C at idle and the fan goes back to normal speed. I have no idea how to fix this though, but now i know it is a software related problem. Who's to blame? Windows or AMD? I hope someone knows the answers to these questions.

My user name is dka. I would like to request detailed instructions on disabling Runtime Broker in the registry that you offered to do in in the post quoted above. My loud fan noise comes on and then stops every time I do as little as go to another website. Then when I perform another simple task the same process goes on indefinitely.

My acer aspire laptop cpu fan has been running at full speed for a while. I have been looking at forums of this specific problem and none of the solutions fixed it. Until I found the the fan was even running at full speed in bios menu. So I opened my laptop and disconnected and reconnected the cmos battery. Now the fan is running normal. I hope this helps.

Thanks for finding another fix. I will save this information, and ask someone who is more comfortable opening up a laptop to fix it.
