    Odd issue.

Sorry for the title it's just hard to pin point this issue and considering I've had it for the past 2-3 weeks it's getting frustrating to the point where I'm starting to give up hope that I'll ever find a solution.

Anyway to the actual problem, as you can see in the pictures there seems to be some kind of issue with how blacks are presented at the monitor, I don't know what triggered it but it all started when I wanted to go from 1440p to 4K and see how that would be. Back then I had a 970 card connected to a Acer Predator XB281HK and from the moment I had packed it up I saw what you see in the pictures, I then fiddled around with the display and the GPU for quite some time, looking at calibration, testing different ports all ending up showing this potato quality of clips from YT in 4K.

Now after Black Friday, I've got a new card and the old monitor, I returned the 4K monitor because I thought it was but now I'm still seeing these funky looking green boxes, I'm slowly but surely going mad about this thing and I've yet to find any solution, I've been through 10 to 20 sites of people reporting similar but not quite the same problem as I am having at this moment. I've tried different cables, new and old, I've reseated the GPU and moved it to another PCIE slot, no difference, I've used the DVI port on the new card to an old Samsung 1280x720 17 inch monitor but I still see the weird things, I watched the clip on the 4K TV my parents have and nothing.

Here are the porridge/potato quality pictures of what I'm currently seeing on my monitor.

Boris would you please explain this statement?
I watched the clip on the 4K TV my parents have and nothing.
I'm not sure whether that means it worked fine or it was the same thing. It seems to be a really confusing problem. I'm sure you have set the resolution for your monitors correctly. It really looks to me like a graphics failure with nothing but artifacts. What are your temps on your card? Am I correct you have used 2 graphics cards and 2 monitors? This is a picture I found on graphics artifacting. It looks very similar to the first picture, don't you think?

Are those all screenshots from the 4K monitor? They are mostly sized 4K. Do they look the same on your 1440 monitor?

Hi sorry for not staying active.

Yes those screenshots are from the 1st 4K monitor, I've now got a new monitor where the artifacts aren't as bad as they were on the first monitor, I thought the problem was in the monitor so I returned it but then to my horror when I plugged in the 1440p monitor I witnessed the same problem and I just got confused.

And now I've a new monitor and a new graphics card and I'm still seeing some odd colors and something wrong with gradient, so for example when there should be smooth gradient from going from a bright color to black it looks very hacky.

So I just assume there is something off with the drivers from NVIDIA.

Oh and what I meant with the TV was that I could watch that same clip on the smart TV and not see any artifacts. It's also 4K.

I'm really not sure what to tell you unless it is some Windows Calibration or Monitor setting. If it played on a 4K TV, I can think of no other reason it wouldn't play on your 4K monitor. Have you looked to see if there is an ICC profile you can add for your monitor?

Hi, well I've actually looked into whether there would be an ICC profile for the Asus Monitor but so far I've only seen ones for the Mg24 and Mg27, so I'll guess I will need to contact Asus to see if they have any plans for actually making one available for the monitor.

There was an update for the graphics card yesterday from NV, I do hope it will have fixed my issue even though that specific update was aimed at giving support for new VR titles.

Hmm it is an odd issue indeed, I played a game yesterday and on the loading screen I could see 8-bit gradient, the same that you see in this picture:

I'm hoping that someone at Asus will have an answer, if not then I'll just leave it be, I'm not in an economically sound position to now start doing something that would end up being a mistake and destroying the hardware.

Did you get a DVD with the monitor? Sometimes they have drivers and color profiles on them. One of my monitors is an Asus VG278HE and there was an ICC profile for it. They do have profiles for some Asus monitors.

Yes I do believe there was a CD/DVD with the monitor but I just assumed it was the like graphics card drivers for both AMD and NV. But I'll have to check this once I'm home.

However do note this, the problem is much less significant with the new monitor, so it might just have been a bad quality one, but that's not for me to say.

Alright well just as I feared there was nothing else on the DVD than the manual for the monitor, amd graphics and the asus displaywidget that doesn't seem to work with W10.

I'll contact Asus support now and see what they tell me.

@BorisTheAnimal If you would like, I can move this thread to Graphics cards and see if you can get better responses there.
