I don't understand your question. What type of hardware monitor are you speaking about?

In systems I am familiar with there are temperatures sensors in the hardware that are read by software.

Have a look at Piriform Speecy. Gives a complete rundown of your PC with a small footprint. I have found it to be accurate as well, it reads the sensors built in to the hardware for temps.

There are many temperature made as addons for case: temperature display 5.25 - Newegg.com but they mostly relay on own probes you can stick on the places you want to monitor. Most of them can control case fans although CPU cooler fan's control should be lef to to MB and it's BIOS to control.

Yes I am aware of this but I was interested in what the OP really wanted.

Most of the "hardware" temperature sensors are made for watercooling, to monitor coolant temps....there are some with sensors you can place around your system to monitor temps, but they aren't going to be as accurate as the sensors built into the hardware.

HW Monitor is what I use to monitor system temps, and I use the GPUz sensors tab to monitor the GPUs. I also have sensors to monitor coolant temps in the loops.
