    Overclocking 6600k

so ive noticed something a litttle strange. at my current 4.5GHz and 3200MHz ram, i get a max temp in prime of about 65-70C. now if i reset the ram to default (no XMP) my max temps barely break 50C in prime. whats going on here? i know its using a voltage of 1.2 at stock and 1.35 at 3200mhz but would that much voltage increase yield a 20c difference? Like what's going on here? Also, the lower voltage and ram speed allows me to use lower voltage on the CPU as well to maintain stability.

20C is a very big change, more than I would think it should be. What are you monitoring the temps with?

ok so updating the bios, re-pasting the CPU, and making sure my pump is running at the correct speed did not help. same issue.

If you are using less CPU voltage, that could make a difference. What are your CPU Voltages at both settings?

Yet again here we have our resident PC Build/PC Component Guru helping all the members out with their issues. Yet we don't have a single screenshot, comment or any evidence of him enjoying BF1 which he downloaded over a week ago.

Do any of our fine forum members live close to him? Maybe you could get yourselves over there, start drinking all his beer, eat all his food until you see him taking a break and firing up that game.

Good stuff. The Operations mode in MP is very popular. Dude posted a video. Have fun.

    BF1 is so amazing.

So im concluding that there is no "fix" for this. The ONLY setting in bios that directly relates to CPU temps that is relitive with the ram is ram voltage. Stock is 1.2v anything higher at all and it yelled significantly higher temps. At this point I've tried everything.

Does the CPU Vcore change? Do you have the CPU Voltage set to auto or is it Manual or Adaptive/Offset? When you change from XMP do you change the CPU Voltage?
