I vote mATX with a mid-tower case so you have room for a 120mm fan for liquid cooling.
I'm not a fan of mini anything when it comes to a desktop gaming PC, but if you really have a need for "mini" I would agree with Bunny J's comment above.

If you're using an I7 6700K CPU it needs liquid cooling to perform at it's best. Just as important is to choose a mid tower that's designed for airflow with case fans you can control. Many motherboards have software/bios settings that allow you to control every fan.

If you want to see the impact of poor (mini) case cooling, take a look at this thread on the EVGA forums. An FTW 1080 running at 87C with the GPU fan at 100% is absurd. Read through the thread, it was case cooling and scenarios where a high end graphics card (not a blower card) is sitting right on top of the power supply.

If you're going to go with "mini", suggest a strong focus on cooling. Some mid tower case reviews here:

    Thermaltake - U.S.A. - Core V1 - CA-1B8-00S1WN-00

You can shove a 1080, i7-6700K, water cooling, and some random hard drives into it easy peasy with plenty of ventilation.
