Are you having any stability issues with the 2133 RAM? I ran my 1866 at 2133 for awhile, but it did have some issues.

Mine has been rock solid for a couple years, I kind of have forgotten a lot of what I learned about voltage settings when I set it up. I am using this fan XIGMATEK Gaia SD1283 CPU Cooler bracket included dual fan push pull compatible-Newegg.com with 2 upgraded 1800 RPM fans. I had to increase the voltage I think +.05. My NB is 2200, I'll have to check BIOS to see HT.

A lot of people on the OC forums said I couldn't run at 4.62 on air... Been working great for quite a while now :)

Yeah, I see you're running at 1.392 for Core voltage, just a tad above stock. And your HT and NB frequencies are in the sweet spot for performance IMO. I did have to reduce my DRAM frequency for better Timings/Reliability:



I have run P95 for days with these settings, totally stable. I just began a torture test while responding to demonstrate how effective Air cooling can be. Multiple Chrome instances, Dropbox uploading in background, Foobar200 running, Outlook 365, OneDrive, SpeedFan, HwMonitor, etc etc.

I control cooling with SpeedFan; it provides smooth transitioning and terrific monitoring. The cores won't exceed 52-53 and the socket will mac out around 58.

I'm using a single 120mm on an Argon AR01 for the CPU, almost identical to your cooler. I have ghetto-rigged VRM and RAM fans using older CPU PWM fans from previous builds. My case is monstrous, the CoreX9. I'm running a 200mm intake in the front with 8 140mm Riing fans. 4 intake on top, 2 exhaust on top, 1 intake on side to HDD cages, 1 rear exhaust.

I just added extra 140s this weekend and need to do more tweaking. My Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 mobo has 6 PWM 4-pin headers in total, each rated at 1 Amp. The Riing fans are 3-pin but SpeedFan can control the header voltages so they can be controlled with precision. The fans are rated at 0.25 Amps, so I can safely run 2-3 fans on each header. I prefer controlling with SpeedFan over a controller in a bay. I need a few more Y splitters to get everything where I want. In the meanwhile, the 4 intake 140s on top are not running as I would like, just at reduced dB level.

The dB level right now, 17 minutes into torture test is 28, not at all annoying for me. Idle is very quiet and will be silent when I get those splitters for the top intake fans.

20 minutes into P95 torture test, Core Max 50C Socket Max 55C. Ambient Temperature 15C. So, there is definitely more headroom with the 8350 on air. Anyone claiming 4.6 on air not possible hasn't really tested.

Checked, HT is 2400.

I stopped bothering using prime95 and the like. A lot of time AMD CPUs can have trouble with those, even at stock setting. The proof is having a functioning, solid computer. Like I said, after 2 years, it is fine. AMD overdrive has it's own stress program and mine runs that fine.

Thanks. I don't use AMD Overdrive as I've been taking my time with OCing, not rushing through it, learning as I go. I've been running 4.52 for months and am now getting back to it since I upgraded my cooling. If I get anything stable above 4.6, I'll let you know!

Ya, I don't use Overdrive to OC with, just monitor. I had some irregularities with other temp monitoring programs.

Reason why AMD reads and Intel doesn't because of the Architecture Intel has never read a overclock on any test you take only AMD set ups do this i hope this cleared it up for you
