    what to do


    Hi all I want to upgrade? motherboard and processor or video card I have a I7 950 and a x58 mob and a xtg 680 video card I was looking at the gtx970 i see one going for 245.00 what do yall think would be best?

    Honestly, I think that depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend. You can do either one. If you are ready for a new computer, you will get better performance out of a new rig, if you will use the extra. If what you have is running well and will do everything you want it to do, you can stay with it. This can help you with the video card choice http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html . As you can see, it looks like the 970 is a much better performer than the 680. I have a 670, a 780 and a 980. Each upgrade was impressive to me. Now they are coming out with a 1070 and a 1080. The performance is supposed to be way better than anything in the 900 range, for almost the same price. If it were me (and it's not) I would get the 1070 over the 970 without even thinking about it.

    @ocir, there are some advantages to upgrading the computer beyond performance. In the last few years there are many more and advance features incorporated into the motherboards than there were just a couple of years ago. You may want to look at the newer features and see if you think it is worth the time and money.

    What should I go with I was looking at a msi gaming my and a 6600k or a msi gaming my and a 4790k with 4790 I use my ddr3 Corsair Dominator memory or would the ddr3 be much better
