    My 1st pc

    Hi all,

I'm planning on building my first pc by the end of next month so I have time to do everything proper + I have the money at the end of next month together.
My current built isn't 100% complete, there is a GPU + HDD missing but I get those later.

    My built:
    • I5-6500 boxed
    • Gigabyte GA-B150-HD3P
    • Fractal Design Define S
    • Liyama ProLite XB2483HSU-B1 Black
    • Cooler Master TX3 i
    • Sharkoon Skiller Pro+ (Qwerty, US Int'l)
    • Corsair Vengeance M65 Performance Black
    • Crucial Ballistix Sport LT BLS2C8G4D240FSB
    • Corsair RM550x
    • Crucial MX200 2,5" 500GB

I'm planning on getting an Asus Strix R9 390-DC3-8GD5-GAMING & Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB when I have more money.

I'm aware of the possible frequency conflict between the RAM & CPU + mainboard, but I've been told by my brother that that shouldn't be an issue. My brother helped me a lot with putting this built together, he is the hardware 'expert' in the family where I am the software 'expert'.

I first had plans for building a system to overclock, but that would take me some extra months to get the money together. I don't find it worthy to wait some months to get an overclocking system when comparing the wait time against the performance.

    My built is meant for
    1. gaming,
    2. school stuff,
    3. movies & series,
    4. running 3 VM's.

My budget limit is 1000 euro's incl. shipping.
Currently the cost incl. shipping would be 951 euro's.

Any possible advice on how to improve the built?

That looks like a nice build to me. You can save some by getting the AMD A10-7890K.
    Intel Core i5 6500 vs AMD A10 7850K

The 7890K is new and there isn't any side by side comparison yet but that should give you a good idea of what it should be.

That CPU would give problems with the memory, it provides DDR3 support while the build is focused on DDR4.

It's my experience that the various versions of DDR RAM are built to only fit slots designed for them, i.e. can't fit DDR2 modules into DDR3 slots because the little notch in the edge is positioned a bit differently. One has to choose the motherboard then determine which RAM to get that meets its specifications then choose the CPU. Since the end of the days of the 486 and early Pentiums motherboards have not used the AMD and Intel chips interchangeably but the RAM modules can be used on either type as they are designed to meet the board specifications.

Martijn, it looks like a good build. The ram and Motherboard you chose will be fine. I think it will do what you want very well. For your uses, there should be no issues at all.

My system had finally arrived today, fortunately a few hours earlier than expected :)
I'll make a few pics of it to post in the show off thread soon, currently I'm upgrading to Windows 10586 (forgot I had a 10240 install) and I need to install a couple of programs.
