    New PC build thoughts...

I'm starting to plan a new PC build for this year and I've worked it out so this is what I think I want to get:
Intel Core i5-6600K, Corsair SPEC-02 - System Build - PCPartPicker

    Any thoughts,, ??

Looks very good! Not too high a price but quite a capable spec for everyday use and with room to add a graphics card later if needed.

The memory may be higher spec than needed, did you check if it has been approved on the QVL for the motherboard?

    Cheers,
    Phil

Jeff go with a 512GB(software adds up over time) 850 Pro. It comes with a 10 year limited warranty and if faster than the EVO. Also the Pros can take a lot more R&W(reads and writes) before dying(hence the 10 year warranty).

The Pro series last about twice as long as the EVO series. If you plan to write(not read) alot it's the better buy.

Looks like a nice build, I agree about the memory, no need to go 3000. 2400 or 2666 will do just fine.

The EVO is fine over the PRO. But that's a personal choice. You won't really notice real-life gains with speed from going from the EVO to the PRO unless you like to run benchmarks. I would also consider as Cliff mentionned, to go 512GB for peace of mind and to be future proof for your boot/os/programs drive.

Thanks for the great input.. My plan is to get the motherboard and processor first. Then I'll get memory and see what I'll do.

I might just use the existing parts I have and simply replace the motherboard, processor(fan) and memory. Then I can always
use my old Win8.1 and get a pro license for 10 later on.

Just thinking out loud.. and if and when Erin wants a computer I can get her something new.

    Thanks..
    Jeff
