    build pc

There is a store near me where you walk with them while they advise you the parts to buy for your PC. Then they assemble it for you. They also install the O.S.
I like that except I want to be involved in the assembly .I am ok with my software but have not done much hard ware work.
I currently have an older 4 1/2 year Dell XPS 8300 which lacks the UEFUI, 3.0 USB, SSD etc.
I also have learned that I prefer a removable video card rather than an integrated one.
I bought Office with the pc but it turned out to e better if I had the software from a retail store for re installation purposes. I would also install my own OS -Windows 10 x 64.
So, I am looking for a source to advice me as I go along about parts and when stuck "how to."
Mostly I would need help with compatibility.
Do you have any ides how I would go about this?
I have tried googling but the coordination and compatibility factors are not there. I guess a kit would be OK as long as it met my needs.
Do you have any suggestions about my task? I have no idea how much to pray to get this coaching as some parts places seem content to get you to buy their parts.
Is online a feasible idea or is in town better. I live in a city out side of DC in southern MD.
    Thank you
    Peter

Pick Parts, Build Your PC, Compare and Share - PCPartPicker

It won't allow you to select components that aren't compatible.

If you have questions, just post them here, and I'm sure there'll be someone around within a reasonable amount of time to assist you.

Peter, Vellinious provided you with a good site. Truthfully i would build my own, not sure of your knowledge but it is not that hard to do. Picking parts from online retailers you will have more choices, get exactly what you want and not what someone else in a store is trying to sell you on. Explain more about this store you have. Many here as said can guide you if you like.

Well, our tax appointment. is just around the corner and that will have a lot to say about my plans. There is also another source of relief this year I can look to. I am anxious to get this accomplished and will be in touch.
I have this email in a special folder with my Outlook program.

As stated it is not that hard at all to build the system yourself. You will end up with better components I think and the pride you will have in doing it yourself is not to be discounted.
Once you have built one system yourself you will never buy prebuilt again.
I am sure lots of guys here will chime in with good advice for you.

I totally agree with @doorules. The build is not as difficult as most people think and you will never want to buy another OEM computer. You will get a computer with much better quality components and with the features you want and not what an OEM decided to put into it. I have built more computers than I care to count, but I still remember the first build and the feeling I had when I heard the first POST beep. I kind of smile every time I think about it.

There are a lot of very experienced members on this forum who would be more than willing to offer any advice and help you may need. To me, the fun part is picking out all the components and planning the build. The actual build is just putting the parts together, and it isn't rocket science.
