    Change CPU clock speed?

    Hi,
How can I change the CPU clock speed? I want to reduce it from 4000 Mhz to 3400 Mhz because it's too overheating for my CPU.

The previous AMD drivers allowed it but the new one's don't. Is there any software or anything you can recommend?

And don't tell me the Windows Power Option thing, it's doesn't work.

Whenever I've changed the CPU speed , I've always done it through the BIOS , but you'll want to check the power settings also.

Your approach is bad, clean the fans and apply new thermal paste it everything will be back to normal.

Is that an AMD based system ?

It's not working via the BIOS.
When my PC starts it's automatically goes up to 4.0 GHz.

    Wrong.
I have a AMD FX-8350 and it overheats like crazy, appling thermal paste and cleaning doesn't change anything.
Plus I did it not even one month ago.
I will have to buy a water cooler but I don't have the money for that.

    Yes. It's an AMD system.
My best option is an under clocking software which sets clock speed automatically at Windows start up.
    Any recommendations?

AOD (AMD Overdrive), MSI ET6 (Easy Tune). Try those.

    Tried OverDrive.
It resets to 4.00 GHz at startup for some reason.

It resets to 4GHz because that is the default speed for that cpu :)

You really need to take that computer to someone who understands about building systems, because i had that exact same cpu and it works fine with the stock coolermaster cooler, if you have decent airflow it even allows some headroom for a bit of overclocking if you know what you're doing.

And what you should be trying to do is undervolting the cpu not lowering the stock frequency.
