    USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A Module

    Hi All,
    I have the ASUS ROG Strix Z590 MB and yesterday I done a lot of searching to find a Front Panel USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type_A module or even a drive bay hub but could not find one. I see the PCIe cards and I found the 3.2 Type-C module but not the Type-A. I found lots of 3.1 front panel modules and hubs. I want to replace the front panel 3.0 if I can buy a 3.2.
    I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on where to look for this item on a Canada or USA website so I can purchase it.

    Thanks

    Why not use 10 in the pic below instead of 9.

    Looks like the standard 19 pin with one blank for usb3.0, usb3.1 gen1 and usb 3.2 gen 1. They are all the same 5gbs

    SIW2 thanks for the reply. That is the MB header I am using on the USB 3.0 now for front panel. I am looking for a USB 3.2 module and cable to plug into that so I can remove one or more of the 3.0 modules and replace it with a 3.2 module(s) in the front panel. I can't find the 3.2 module anywhere

    cheers

    so I can remove one or more of the 3.0 modules and replace it with a 3.2 module(s) in the front panel.
    Why? They are the same speed.

    According to the motherboard diagram that socket numbered 9 is usb 3.2 gen 1, which is the same as usb 3.0

    Oh I didn't realize that the USB 3.0 is the same speed as a 3.2 gen 1. I got mixed up with the 3.2 Gen 2 and assumed it was 10gps/sec. Thanks for beating that into my head lol

    What you need is one of these Akasa Thermal Solution normally very cheap $10 ish.
    My mate put one in his on board header to connect his front panel ports, runs fine.

    It is not a gen2 connector. It is gen1. Therefore no advantage over the usb3.0 he is already using. Unless he wants 2 more at the front.

    Yes I know now that I assumed it was faster without reading up on it before posting. I may look into a 3.2 Gen 2 card later though.

    Its hard to not get confused as the versions kept getting shifted around. This was from a post I made awhile back trying to sum up the changes.

    Yeah, they really confused everybody with the USB 3 stuff with all of the renaming.

    USB 1.0 offered a max speed of 12Mbps
    USB 2.0 offered a max speed of 480Mbps

    USB 3.0 when it came out, offered a transfer rate called SuperSpeed which is 5Gbps (about 10x faster than USB 2)
    Then USB 3.1 came out offering SuperSpeed 10Gbps.
    Then, they renamed USB 3.0 to USB 3.2 Gen 1...it's the same speed and offers 5Gbps
    They then renamed USB 3.1 to USB 3.2 Gen 2... still offering that same 10Gbps over USB-A and USB-C connections

    We also have USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, which is available via USB-C only using 2 lanes of IO, so it offers 20Gbps
    USB 3.0 was then renamed to USB 3.2 Gen 1

    Theoretical max
    5Gbps = 625 Megabytes per second
    10Gbps = 1250 Megabytes per second
    20Gbps = 2500 Megabytes per second
