Thanks for the link, will read it carefully.

Did you go the multiplier or the bus speed route to overclock (or both) ?

I use multiplier. I have an Ivy Bridge i7-3770k so it is different for me, so I really cant offer advice

Thanks. The multiplier only gets me to 4.8 with 1.45v and 4.9 is 1.48v + which is very toasty indeed. I settled for 4.5 Ghz with 1.26v (cache speed at 45 also) running cool and stable.

Will try the bus speed overclock hopefully next week and see where I can get to.

What kind of temps do you get with your cpu cooler? As long as temps are under control I would not be too concerned with Vc. These benches don't tax the chip much at all really. For short term durations you should be fine as long as temps are in check.

My 6700K does 4.944 at room temps all day long with 1.48 Vc. Chip is under water though. With cold air it goes to 5.1 at 1.53 Vc for any gpu benches I want to run. Admittedly I got lucky and have a great 6700k.

I get similar temps in the summer. It's a little warm here in Texas. In the winter I get better temps and can push harder

Dude; I figured I better update my Firestrike score as the one I previously posted was with the old Alienware.

Here's my score, 17,768. That's with the same mild OC of +75MHZ on the FTW 1080 and no other overclocking.
