Surface Pro 3 - no network in 10158

I upgraded my Surface Pro 3 to build 10158 today, and I have no network. Under device manager, they are installed properly. I have tried using the Microsoft USB adapter, and the device shows as installed, but under Network Connections, no adapter is visible - no wireless, USB, or dock adapter.

    Any advice is appreciated!!

I've tried installing new adapters too. The drivers all install, but the adapter doesn't show as available under network connections.

Do you have space for a dual boot option? See if you create a 40GB partition and install a clean version there and check if the network shows up - make sure you keep a file history backup so your docs are somewhat safe.

Can you download the driver/firmware package from MS on another PC and move the zip file over? Reinstall all the drivers.

If you went off a "leaked" .iso someone created off an .esd file from their own install then you are more likely to run in to problems, particularly with the Surface line since the drivers and firmware are so specific (and particular). Best bet now that the official 10162 .iso is out is to to a clean install with that, or at least an upgrade (though I would go with clean, it's not that hard to get back to where you were with apps, etc. these days.)

Download Surface software, firmware, and drivers from Official Microsoft Download Center

Same ones for 8.1 work for 10, particularly the network stack. Once you get network going Windows update should take care of the rest.

Though with a clean install off the public 10162 .iso - which is what you should be doing, really, with the Surface line in particular - you shouldn't have this problem, I've done installs on both my SP3 and my S3. I'm assuming you would want to move to that anyway since I can't think of any reason why you'd want to stay at 10158, particularly since many of the bug fixes between it and 10162 were for tablets/Continuum.

Also, as I mentioned, it's freely available from Microsoft to anyone, you don't need to resort to any tricks to get it :) And you'll be a in a good position to get the next build, rumored to be the RTM, rumored to be this week.

Thanks, I may just wait until the next build is out. I have 10162 on my surface and it works fine. I may just leave my xps on 10158 until the next build and then do a clean install. Thanks for your help.

Didn't notice you were another poster - I was responding to the OP who was missing the network driver for his Surface :) Those are hard to find outside Windows Update or the Microsoft package I linked to.
