    sorry dude my bad there all on same subnet i think bad typo the defult gateway is 192.168.1.2 on the win 10 machine.
    the router is a Tenda w548d v2 its an ADSL2+ router with integrated wireless access point + 4 port ethernet switch.
    thanks for taking the time to help figure this out as its been driving me bonkers

    With being on the same subnet, and (hopefully) having the mask as 255.255.255.0, there is no apparent reason why your win 10 comp shouldn't be seen.
    But it is interesting that it did show briefly. I will say that sometimes routers don't relay traffic from wireless to LAN reliably. In fact, one of my routers has this fault. So, maybe that is what you are seeing?

    Perhaps google to see whether that modem/router has this fault?
