Looking For A Simple Bandwidth Monitor

comcast as of november is implementing a 1tb monthly cap(bs i know when the average broadband user uses at least 2tb monthly). i have looked at various monitors and they leave a lot not to like. all i want is something that sits in the systray and when i mouse-over the icon i see what my accumulated usage is, and to be able to click on the tray icon and have it open a small display of only down and up no additional info. thank in advance for any help.

I've been using a free tool called Networx. If you've already looked into this and it's not for you, I apologize for wasting your time.

NetWorx : bandwidth monitor, connection speed test traffic usage log

First, any meter is only going to tell you how much your actual computer is using. Not what other devices (tablets, TV's, DVR's, etc..) are using as well. You can also see this by going into Windows Settings->Network & Internet->Data Usage (no, it's not as simple as a tray item, but it's right there as part of windows).

Some Firewall/Router's will also tell you how much you're using. For instance, Asus has a great mobile tool to monitor your traffic from your phone.

Secondly, I highly disagree that any average user uses anything close to 1TB, much less 2TB. I am a pretty heavy user, with lots of Netflix and 3 different people with various devices. I also download a lot of multi-gigabyte ISO's and what not directly from Microsoft every month. I had 300GB cap with Comcast for a longtime, and I often went over it, then they raised it to 600GB and I've been within that ever since. They've now raised it to 1TB and I still don't break 600GB.

If you're breaking 2TB per month, I would suggest something else is going on, as I don't see how I could come close to that, much less it be an "average" for most people. To put this in perspective, 2TB/month means downloading 66+GB per day, every day. It means downloading nearly 3GB per hour 24 hours per day every day. How is it possible that you consider this "average"?

Mystere i do not need a lecture. i'm quite aware of what this meter does. in the house 1 tablet and 1 phone both have meters that come with them that are easily accessible. next time assume i know all that and either actually help or ignore the thread. i honestly did not ask for your opinion, and i trust my numbers. this thread was marked soled for a reason. marsmimar as i said thank you.

First, you are not the only person reading this, so giving more information than is strictly necessary is good for the whole community. Grow a thicker skin, and don't take offense because I provided more info.

Second, I *DID* help, by showing how this can be done in Windows without using any tool (other than the taskbar function). I also suggested a way to monitor your whole houses bandwidth use by checking out any tools provided by your router manufacturer, and gave an example of Asus's tools.

Finally, I disagreed with your assessment of "at least 2TB" being an "average" for users, and gave factual information to support that disagreement. I didn't want other users to think that using 2TB of data per month was usual, because it's not. You opened this door by stating this, so if you didn't want disagreement, you shouldn't have said anything about it.

If you come into a forum and ask for help, and spout unsupported claims along with it, you should expect to get some comments on it.

I suppose you are wrong on this point. (Real Time Monitoring)

I was using FB-Traffic on a Fritzbox router,
and now I'm using Marminar suggested App:
NetWorx : bandwidth monitor, connection speed test traffic usage log

Both show you the real time traffic, that's going trough the router.

That was what I was looking for.

What I'm missing in NetWorks is a simple % double graph like this one:
Looking For A Simple Bandwidth Monitor-2019-04-11-06-001.jpg

You get the info at an easy glance,
while NetWork's graph is more sophisticated, cannot be really customized
and need more attention, being in superposition:
