    Professional and Home Networking

    Hi,

My 3 Windows 10 computers are all Professional versions, and connect fine with each other in WORKGROUP.

My question relates to a PC running Home version (which we may also have soon). Before we decide I want to ensure that a Home version can connect to WORKGROUP. If not how can it connect to our small network, or should we just get another Professional version PC?

    Thanks in advance.

Opinion? Get another Pro version. There's several differences between the versions that possible could cause more non-productive work just to get any problems fixed.

A Workgroup is just a standard LAN connection. Any OS can connect to SMB/CIFS, regardless of what version of the OS you are using.

So Windows 10 Home will be able to join my WORKGROUP then!

You won't be able to create a domain like those businesses do since you need a windows server along with a server grade hardware to do it. Workgroup is SMB like what bro67 mention.

As I stated before, a Workgroup is nothing more than a Standard LAN connection that uses SMB/CIFS.
