IEEE 802.11n 5 GHz/2.4 GHz On models compliant with the IEEE 802.11b/g/n standard, only the 2.4 GHz band can be used.

would lead me to conclude that the laptop only has a single band WiFi adapter. Is there a specific model WiFi adapter listed under Network Adapters in Device Manager?

    Hi there

for 5GHZ band adapter has to support ac protocol.

    Cheers

Most likely your adapter is not 5 ghz capable. netsh wlan show all in a Command window will show you what your adapter is capable of. It should show 2.4/5 ghz if it is capable of it.

There are some that are not A capable. There are a lot of devices out there that can do 5 ghz, only b/g/n.
