For a limited bandwidth that can be a problem! It isn't so much as far as data but the ISP hosting being the problem for you. Are you on dial-up or some form of limited dsl plan? is the question I could be asking. 4gb is small since a Windows 10 download in iso form would be over 3gb in size! The unlimited on the other hand would allow you to download all day long!

Now as for having several browser windows open I find sometimes I may to use multiple browsers in order to and FB or Twitter page open as well as a few other sites and still be able to open any new windows required if something has to be looked up. This is one reason I had switched from IE 8 and later 9 years back to Opera and then found Waterfox which started acting up last summer when getting into 10. Cyberfox being an Australian variant was then tried and set for default while now I ended up with the latest 64bit flavor of FF!

That will also prevent seeing stalls or bog downs when having several windows open suggesting a max number for each browser over a period of time will help to prevent crashes from the freeze ups generally the most common. With 16gb of memory you know that can't be the reason! The browsers themselves have their own limitations you have to work with.

    Hi,

The browsers themselves have their own limitations you have to work with.
Indeed they do. One workaround for IE users is to increase the default cache size from 250Mb to say 500Mb.
That helped me when IE complained about lacking memory (running 16Gb here too) when FB's embedded videos where running without me paying attention for instance.

    Cheers,

I run into that problem at times when going to a blog site I frequent and as soon as you arrive some video starts sounding off in the background until you find and hit the stop button. On FB or Twitter however the only time a video starts up is when you pass over it with the cursor for a few seconds. That seems to be a preview function FB saw added in there.

As for Overriding things in FF that's easy enough! I raised it up from the 383mb I found it with to 1024mb! May as well make it even GB! How To Increase Firefox Cache Size

I will be giving this a try on WF as well as Cyberfox as well since I favored Waterfox over FF while lately it's been FF seeing the fixes being made.

I only get 4gig a month which some say is nothing,
With that kind of limited data, you should consider some methods to decrease your data usage.
For starters, definitely get a flash blocker and some other blocker, it can save quite a lot of traffic.
Other option is to use Opera Turbo, it compresses some webpages, it can save a bit more as well.
Increase your browser's cache, whichever you are using, since re-downloading stuff is consuming.

Well that would require downloading and installing Opera if not already in use for the Turbo option. When going to overrides the local offline storage here Waterfox was already moved upto the 1024mb after seeing it done for FF 45. Cyberfox still needed to see it done there however since it doesn't reference any of the FF folders.

But as far as the overall situation reducing things on the browser won't be much of any help if your monthly allowance isn't there to start with! Sounds like you are on a metered rather then unmetered type of connection with the restrictions imposed. A change of ISP or service plan would be the better move overall to consider.

Opera Turbo is available in other browsers like Yandex, but similar extensions exist, like Data Saver for Chrome.

Well the problem is not knowing which browser is in use. That certainly won't work for Edge, IE, FF, and some others. The main problem however as was indicated was with the service being a bit limited at 4gb which will continue to be a problem.

Well it seems you are starting to make some progress at least. One thing someone pointed out on another thread regarding a busy hard drive and wanting to know what kept writing to the drive was found here to be the active watch the av software has over everything since that also includes it's own firewall protection. The open source tool pointed to was the Activity Indicator which hides in the System notication area until you bring it up. Activity Indicator download | SourceForge.net

Well the last 10 days of my plan used far less data than the previous 10 and the 10 before that, I have been taking the dongle out and re-connecting when I want to use the internet, also turned a few 'auto-plays' off. Win10 apparently has an auto-connect to the internet feature. Watch out for the auto-play button on Youtube, up towards the top right corner of the screen (after you open a video), and if looking at Facebook, see if any videos open just because you put the mouse pointer on the video, it may turn all the videos on as you scroll down the page, that can be turned off if it causes excess data use.
