The only reason I did not post this, is because it is kind of dated.

DD-WRT Router Benefits - #5: Take Full Use of a 3G USB Modem or 4G MiFi Mobile Hotspot

With it being dated information, VZ could have changed the firmware on the hotspot, so that it may not allow for doing what the link states to get around the 5 IP limit.

    Expert Network advice needed

Going back to Square 1 on this setup. Have a Linksys Router WRT54GL ,have three computers hardwired to the router. Why can't I see the computer in the network.? Should I be able to do this hardwired? Forget about image, fixed
Troubleshooter for Windows is a waste. It never worked from day one when Microsoft introduced it.

The 54GL series is a hit or miss if Tomato or DD-WRT will work or not.

As for not seeing computers on the network, part of that is a change that Microsoft made in the rollout they pushed in December and January.

Also as long as Windows Firewall is not enabled, Network Discover is on, no third party Security software, you should be able to open a Command window and ping the computers also should be able to get a list with net /view .

If you loaded any software that came with the hotspot, that can create a proxy and create headaches.

I will honestly tell you that I hate dealing with the 3G/4G/LTE hotspots, because all of them are different and same as the providers that they are sold by. Same as when trying to expand the footprint, by getting around the 4-5 IP limit, due to limited horsepower that the CPU and RAM that is built into them.

    Thanks bro67
I want to forget about the hot spot for now and get the 3 computer on a network with the linksys. Computer does not see the linksys? All the computer are hardwired to router, router is hooked to computer. Can't get network to see the computers, must be doing something wrong.

Should the Linksys show up in Control Panel? Not see this thing anywhere?

That is okay. I was not thinking clearly on the 16th, because my wife was still dealing with her mother passing last Wed.

See the 4th paragraph of my post right above yours from around 3 pm my time.

If they can be pinged, show up in net /view in the Command, all are on the same Workgroup, which a lot of leave at default, since there are some NAS's that do not play nice with Microsoft's SMB/CIFS if you change the workgroup name. All computers should show listed in the Command Window. There are some extra switches that you can use with the net command. technet.microsoft.com has a section on that.

If no enabled firewall, no active third party Security software and still cannot see the devices, a lot of us have been able to disable smb 2 & 3, to get Network discovery to work. Just make sure that you do not have any software loaded that came with that hotspot or disable it while testing. Because some of those software for the hotspots, create a Proxy.

Do the same on all computers to see if they can reach each other and only that one is the problem.

If only this machine that you posted the ping from, post ipconfig show /all Copy the text and paste on here in a Text box. To create the text box, place the word codebox inside [], end the codebox with /codebox inside the last set of [].

That way it will allow us to scroll through the info, instead of one long post. You can place a title above each codebox with the number or name for each computer, so that you can keep things straight on your end and we can do the same on here.

I suggest pasting the info in a document named for each computer. Then you can keep notes as we troubleshoot.

Thanks for hanging in there with me bro67, sorry about your wife's mother. My wife lost her mother the day after Christmas. He is where I'm at,I can ping all computer as long as Netgear WNDA3100 is plug into computer.Sure you know this is a wireless adapter. If I take it out of computer no pinging. I don't need this for a home network do I ? Cables all hooked to router and router is plug into computer. Its like the router only works wireless,I need the router to work both ways because of a printer. Seems like I should be able to connect wired?.

Perseverance always works. My wife has been dealing with Migraines pretty much every day, because of the stress from what has been going on with her side. I hang in there with her, because without me, I do not know if she would have the strength to get out of bed and keep pushing to keep her mind off of things.

Go in and set it so that Windows does not touch the drivers during update.

To access this option, open the Control Panel by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Control Panel. Navigate to System and Security > System > Advanced system settings. Click the Hardware tab, click Device Installation Settings, and select the “No, let me choose what to do option. Select “Never install driver software from Windows Update.”
