No not possible. There are many factors that affect transfer speed. If you can achieve anything around 700Mbps consider that excellent.

It would be if you had Enterprise equipment, along with a powerful enough machine and proper hard drive and controller.

You just need to have everything in the path from PC to NAS on 1GB.

Your Gateway LAN ports are only 100MB so you will connect your PC and NAS via the 1GB switch.

I have gigabit powerline adapters between me and router and then to the NAS. I use cat 6 ethernet cables throughout the route. I also have a nic card which supports gigabit.

I am not sure how i can test the speed between me and the NAS to see how fast it is.

Just copy a largish file across and look at the speed shown by the copy.

The controller on both ends and especially with the powerline adapters being the weakest link. You will never reach the speeds that you would get with a direct connection back to the switch or Gateway.

The gear I am using, I can achieve close to the 100 mb/s on my laptop and desktop when connected to Ethernet. Because my switch and Gateway are Business grade. That means more horsepower under the hood.

You can use Clonezilla on a Pendrive and that would give you a pretty accurate figure.
