    Win 10 Update (KB3120677)

    ** HEADS UP!! **

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3120677)

Just got this update and I can't believe it, but once again just after getting everything working perfectly on my network and homegroup with 3 days of my time and aggravation, this update messed up the network and my homegroup again.

What the hell is going on with Microsoft these days???? Aren't they testing these updates on rows of PC's before releasing them or are we all the guinea pigs for them???

This is beyond BS on top of it all, that we still aren't told what's in an update and it's forced fed into our PC's with Microsoft surely aware by now that users don't like this blindfold approach to updates.

And it's especially not smart because there could be a security exploit fix in the update and if you roll back the update to get your network back, are we exposed to another security issue??????????

    Happy Thanksgiving. NOT!

Well at least this time it didn't take as long to find the fix.

The update did something to the networking settings and some vital ones were not running.

Open the services menu by clicking start and then clicking RUN and typing 'services.msc' and pressing enter.

Look for the following services in the list:

    · DNS Client
    · Function Discovery Provider Host
    · Function Discovery Resource Publication
    · Peer Networking Grouping
    · HomeGroup Provider
    · HomeGroup Listener
    · SSDP Discovery
    · UPnP Device Host

Make sure they are set to AUTOMATIC START instead of MANUAL.

Go down the list one by one and even if they are running do a mouse right click and SELECT "RESTART".

On the ones that are showing a blank and not running right click and SELECT "START".

That's all I did and all 3 Laptops are back in the Networking Panel and in the Homegroup WORKGROUP.

    :) Happy Thanksgiving!
