    Remote Desktop

recently I upgraded my work computer to windows 10 pro
just found if I want to connect to a remote computer on a port other than 3389, it doesn't let le me put : just like I can do
in previous version "server name/IP address: port number" comes up with error saying
"remote computer name is invalid" if I go ahead and click connect shows
"The computer name is blank or it contains invalid characters. Try typing it again.
Invalid characters include spaces, tabs, ;:<>*+=\|?," "
any idea or work around it......
    thanks.

Are you using the Desktop remote desktop app, or the Universal App Remote Desktop? They work differently.

    I'm on the latest, 10586.14 version 1511.

I didn't try it with 10240 so don't know if it worked there or not.

Case closed, good to know you got it solved.

For future reference, the port number can be changed in registry. Browse to following key:
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp
Now change the value of the DWORD PortNumber to anything you want to / need to use, accepted values are from 1025 to 65535 (decimal), or 401 to ffff (hexadecimal):
