Windows 10 Will Not Let Me Create A Homegroup Password

I have just installed Windows 10 on my HP Elitebook 8460p Windows Pro 64 bit laptop.
I am currently part of a homegroup consisting of four other computers which share the same password.
When I tried to connect the Windows 10 to the existing homegroup with the password they are using, I was told that Windows no longer detects a homegroup on this network.
It told me that to create a new network, go into the Control Panel, click on Homegroup and create a password.
This failed repeatedly, even after going into advanced sharing settings.
In reading some of the threads on this subject I noticed one that said as of April, homegroup is being removed from Windows 10.
Is this true or did I misunderstand?
How can I connect Windows 10 to my other computers as part of the homegroup?

It is being removed as it's never worked very well going back to basic workgroups is the best option. Do you have ipv6 running as without it home group won't work
