Well, the saga continues. Turned off the Netgear router and still had to troubleshoot! And after the nasty power company rep, I'm almost afraid to call Time Warner! <G>
After I get the soap going, I'm going to try moving the cables around. Or I may just reboot the TWC modem/router. That's about the only thing I haven't tried yet!
Thanks for all the possibilities, y'all!

Hi At this time, I'm thinking you might not have your router set up to connect automatically! Try going into properties and see if you have it set up to connect automatically.

Whew this is frying my brain! I suspect there's an issue with the TWC router/settings. When I had the Netgear totally off, I was still having issues.
Believe I'll tackle this again tomorrow morning during/after the coffee!
Thanks donetao for all the understandable help! I may actually get TWC to ping the router from their end if rebooting the thing doesn't work. . . .

Here's what I have done before. Probably not a fix, but I do it any way! My ISP always has me do this???

Well, my cyberfriend, I think I fixed it. Powered down my computer, unplugged the phone - cause a spam call just came in - unplugged the Netgear from the Arris. Unplugged the power to the Arris. Went to town. Came back. (all of this is really important when it comes to computer repair, right?) Hardwired the Arris to hubbys computer via ethernet cable I have laying around. Put power back to phone and Arris. Turned on my computer, and WALA - it's working now. Not sure for how long, but apparently threatening the Arris with permanent loss of power did the trick! (or totally removing the Netgear from the loop. . . .)
Thanks again for all the help. Raining here again & must take the goats MORE hay, cause goats think they will melt if they get wet!

    Hi, goatmom:

Sorry you are still having problems...

    Have you contacted TWC yet?

As I previously mentioned, I am not a networking guru, just another home user and TWC customer with one of the new modem/wireless gateways.

The more expert members will correct me if I am wrong, but if understand your posts correctly, you already had *2* routers BEFORE you got the new modem from TWC?

If so, and if you have not called TWC to have them disable the wifi on the new cable modem, you now probably have *3* wireless "routers".
To my amateur eyes, that seems like at least one or two too many, at least without a bit of expert networking help to configure all of it.
My hunch is some sort of conflict between them.

If the problems started when you got the new TWC modem, then it might be advisable to call them and get some support from them, starting with disabling the wifi component???? (You cannot disable it -- they have to do it from their end.)

Anyway, that's just my humble suggestion.

I hope you get it worked out -- please report back, either way, so that we can all learn.

    Cheers,
    MM

MM - no, only had 1 router prior to the TW combo modem/router being installed. I've now permanently take the original router out of the loop and still have had problems.
Tried contacting TW, but of course lost the chat connection - but they didn't seem much help anyway.
My current solution is a rollback to WIN 8 to see if that's the issue.
Hubby also having problems, but his seem connected to Chrome. . . .sigh. . .

    Ah, my bad.
    Sorry, I misunderstood.

Still, I would guess that something might be conflicting or clashing between the Netgear and the TWC devices.

Re: TWC, I wouldn't bother with chat, especially if you have online connectivity issues.
I called the local TWC office on the phone the day I installed my new modem.
It took all of 5 minutes on the phone for them to properly disable the wifi on it. Very simple and fast.
It is my ONLY modem and I have my own router, and everything worked fine with the wifi enabled -- I disabled it for privacy reasons.
But I can't help thinking that there is something amiss between the 2 routers, +/- the networking configuration on your computer(s).
If all of your computers are affected, again, that suggests that the problem is with the ROUTERS -- something both/all computers have in common.

I don't know that I would resort to rolling back the OS just yet, without trying some simple, reversible changes.
But it's certainly up to you, as I understand how one gets to a point of frustration with these things.

One other thought: do you have a local, on-site, REPUTABLE computer repair tech or a friend/relative with networking skills? Sometimes, a few minutes hands-on by someone with special expertise can be time and $ well spent.

    Good luck!

Still having issues even tho the ONLY router was the Time Warner one. Sooooo, I totally gave up! I've rolled the desktop back to Win8 and so far, no problems when I wake it from sleeping.
I may try reinstalling Win10 in a few days, after I get over my frustrations.
