Upgrading WIfi/Bluetooth Card in Windows 10 Desktop

    Hello All

It Currently has a Wifi 5 Card that uses Intel Wireless Driver & Bluetooth, for Christmas received a Wifi 6 Card. Should i uninstall the current Wifi and Bluetooth driver prior to installing the newer One, and then install the latest Drivers?

In most cases simply put the new one in and it should install it's self and drivers

Depends on wifi internet and router speeds.

Not much point if router is only wifi 5.

Having said that, Wifi 6 is a bit confusing as it uses 5 ghz band unless wifi 6e which uses newer 6 GHZ band.

So wifi 5 card will probably max out at 860 mb/s on a 5 GHz router. A wifi 6 card can go up to maybe 1200 mb/s on wifi 5 router.

You would need to get a wifi 6e router with wifi 6e adaptor to go much higher.

If you do not have high speed full fibre, changing would only be worth doing if you need high speed wifi on LAN e.g. local gaming.

Yes Comcast Xfinity Gateway is Wifi 6 capable, Arris XB7 Gateway (have to use, since have WIfi TV box for upstairs TV) unforuately don't have a Wifi6E compatible Comcast Gateway as yet

Guess No point though in using usb 3.0 2.5Gig Adapter with only 1Gig Connection (uses with another machine)
    Comcast 1000/20

Eventually wanna get a WIfi 6E adapter for my Windows 11 Desktop though, even if mostly for the Bluetooth 5.3 as i typically use the Windows 11 Desktop Wired

The Other Household PC is strictly Wifi, closer to the Gateway Modem/Router/Wifi

Unforuately No Fiber available around here
Just Comcast, or AT&T DSL, or Wideopenwest Cable internet

FiberOptics is good but still limited to wires if not also run from junction boxes to the house/building, have some clients with better/more reliable connections but not much better actual speed.

Information: my daughter is using Wireless from her ISP and the Modem/Router supplied is set for by the ISP for 5G only [okay for smartphones] and the 802.11n adapter in my 2010 Notebook has only 2GB it won't connect. I ended up using an 802.11ac USB dongle to connect.
