two routers, can't access pc by name

i added a new router at home to extend the wifi coverage...

router 1: the main router, tp-link wr902ac. this gives access to internet using an usb 4G card.

router 2: the old one, tp-link mr3020, configured as wifi repeater (or wifi bridge).

all PCs have the same windows version and configuration, internet works.

    i can:

    - access other PCs by ip whatever router im connected to

    - access other PCs connected to router 1 by name if i am connected to router 1

    - access other PCs connected to router 2 by name if i am connected to router 2

    - access other PCs by name if i am connected to router 2

    here it is the problem:

    - i can't access other PCs connected to router 2 by name if i am connected to router 1

tryed many guides on internet, i couldn't find a solution... at the moment i resolved modifing the HOSTS file.

any idea?! could it be, as i suspect now, a problems with these routers?!

    thanks

    edit: typos...

    router1
    ip: 192.168.1.1
    subnet: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.1.1

    router2
    ip: 192.168.1.2
    subnet: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.1.1

dhcp is configured the same on both routers because address reservation seems not working when connecting to router 2
    gateway: 192.168.1.1
    dns1: 1.1.1.1
    dns2: 8.8.8.8

You only need one routing drvice. Having two just creates headaches.

Router 1 should be DHCP and 2 shouldn't have a gateway or DHCP

Agreed. No advantage in this application.

just made an hard reset, no gateway no dhcp on router 2, same results

    i do that...

in the meanwhile i'm borrowing another (newer) repeater from a friend, trying again after your requests i noticed that i can't print if the printer is attached to router 2 and i am attached to router 1... it should be the routers for some reason

How have you connected the routers? It must be by lan port to lan port then it will work

update: replacing the mr3020 with a more recent xiaomi repeater/extender i have all working as expected... now, just for curiosity i'm going to swap the routers to see if it is the wr902ac having problems communicating with the mr3020 or just an incompatibility/bug
