My router is a xfinity one with the sloped top. Model XB-7T
Is there a way to power it down at night. Windows 10 doesn't seem to be helpful.
Are there any settings in the router?
Or is it easier to hook it up to a timer? Or is all a bad idea all the way around.

The model is not "xfsetup-4426", that is the SSID. Doubtful that the Gateway is heating up the room.
It is causing the heat. And yes I guess it's actually a modem. It plugs into my computer as well as wi fi in my house.

In a lot of cases if you turn router off it's seen as a fault and the ISP will reduce speed to fix the fault
Again the gateway does not use enough current to put out that much radiant heat output. The warming of the room is coming from other reasons. As for removing the SSID, it is not going to ID where your device is located on this planet, it is just a descriptor put out when the Gateway has not been properly set up by the consumer or Comcast for the consumer.
I do have three windows open. This is the box the xfinity cable screws into to.
