Doesn't your ISP has a list of suggested routers? If not, look for 802.11 AC Wireless routers.

Standard Router [no modem], Netgear Nighthawk, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wireless/Wi-Fi. I use Wireless DSL and the modem furnished by them, paying for and getting 25Mbps service.

It depends a lot on what your Internet plan is. In other words how fast it is. Even then you have to have wireless devices that will utilize these speeds.

For example I have Gigabit Internet with 1200Mbps download & 35Mbps upload speeds. My fasted wireless devices are:

    Laptop: Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)
    Phone: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax 2.4GHz+5GHz

To support these devices I need at least a dual-band router (2.4GHz+5GHz) that supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax.

thanks for all the input so far, not sure what u need to know ?, but the internet provider is virgin media says I got an M100 fiber broadband connection, I used to use the hub virgin provided as a modem which was hard-wired to my old modem (tp-link WDR4900 dual band gigabit router) via ethernet cable, from there I could connect multiple ethernet or wireless devises at either 2.4ghz or 5ghz so looking for a similar set up with a new router, hope this helps and thanks again

If you have the fiber optic modem from virgin and it works, then any router will plug into the modem's ethernet port and provide you with WiFi and additional ethernet ports. You don't say what your internet speed is because a router with super-fast WiFi may exceed the capability of your internet connection and you will just have wasted bandwidth. Here's a cheap router that would probably serve your needs:
NETGEAR AC1600 Dual Band Gigabit WiFi Router (R6260), Black

Umm... why not just use your Virgin Media hub instead of piggy-backing another router to it? What do you think the benefit will be?

If you're paying for an M100 package and only getting less than 35 Mbps download speed then you need to speak to Virgin Media. (Virgin Media claims "your average download speed should be 108Mbps (megabits per second)" for the M100 fibre broadband package.

EDIT: Ah, you added the info that the speed test screenshot was from a Netgear extender which does NOT give a true account of the average download speed provided by your ISP. Re-do the speedtest using your Virgin Media hub, not from any network add-on.

Note: I've just spotted that Internet Speed shows "Rubbish but virgin fixed line" (in your device specs). Hmm... IMO if you don't get close to 100Mbps regularly then Virgin Media need to 'fix the line' properly or give you a refund and lesser package.

    Hope this helps...
