Can we reset or reinstall the whole networking thing?

I have been having problems with lan connections to the router on a machine for some time. sometimes boot and all is good. othertimes boot and no connection and othertimes boot and connection 'no internet'.

Various things have fixed things for a session before it screws up next time. Like set auto DNS or specify a DNS. Like disable IPV6. Like troubleshooter.

But I can't fix it with anything I know today and it is getting really weird I think. I look at the properties of an adapter and it shows me details of a different adapter entirely !

The troubleshooter tells me there's no ethernet cable when we're looking at a wireless adapter.

I have it set for obtain DNS and it boots into an old specified DNS.

It tells me no problems found but I still can't get in.

The router is working well with at least four other machines in the house.

I am thinking the whole 'module' needs reinstalling.

Any ideas what I could, should do?

This is how I set up my networks. I have never had any networking problems.
