SMB1 and Printer/Scanning to folder - win 10 any ver
Hi Gang,
Thought I'd post, see what info may come forth from the great people here.
I have one cleint (of several) who it seems has the need for SMB 1.0 in order for the network printer to be able to scan to a PC folder.
I've tested with Kyocera and Konica Minolta's (Having a forgetful moment on which brand this particular client is using ... oy)
Thing is, he has an HP laptop, and in win 10 (home or pro, any build though most are up to 1909) have the SMB 1.0 client and server enabled, and the auto turn off not checked, however after a while it seems windows goes ahead and turns off one of those options anyway, either from an update or from who knows where, forcing him to go back to re-enable.
(Right now my setups are simple; 1.0 client and server checked, folder shared out, I typically add a local user to the system with scanner/scanner, and then add that info into the MFC for scanning to the network share, be it on a server or workstation.)
Any solution for this occurring?
And in the larger context, any way around not having SMB 1.0 on and still being able to use the scan to network folder with these business printer/copiers/multi-functions?
I know the reasons for 1.0 being phased out, but it seems the business printer community doesn't realize it, or I need to implement another configuration on win 10 to accomplish this without 1.0.
Thoughts?
