    Cannot connect to PC in network: username or password incorrect


    Hi Guys
    Sorry to have to ask, but after months I still cannot access the media PC from any PC aside from mine. We have 7 Windows PC's plus phones. The kids (and I) would like to access the media PC from their devices. ALL Win 10.

    I can access the media PC from my PC (UD5) but that is all. I can access everything on the network.

    We can see the PC (called ebay7753 - I got it from eBay) but when we try to access the files we get "username or password is incorrect".

    Here is my first dumb question:

    1. I am using the username on the PC that I am on - is this correct?
    2. I am using the password that I "think" is the network password.

    Then - username or password is incorrect

    hi foxinit, if you are trying to access ebay7753 from another PC on your network then you need to use the username and password for ebay7753, assuming you have the network and rights correctly configured.

    I thought I had the correct username and password. As far as I know there is no password on ebay7753

    But HOW can I check??

    First thing have you setup a share on the pc and set it everyone and then set the NTFS permissions on the folders

    So how do I find the username and password of ebay7753?

    its the username and password that you use to login to the pc when it starts.

    Yes...I was afraid you would say that. Thank you

    I just turn it on and it all happens. I have tried to avoid passwords as they become problems.

    So, as I understand it (remember I am not PC expert) it has no password and I have no idea of a username.

    You can find out your user name by going to the accounts section (click to little gear symbol). If you have no password them maybe just leave that blank and see if that works.

    Thank you.
    I found the name of ebay773 in "Your info" the PC is called DELL - this surprised me as the "computer name" is ebay7753.

    Anyway I went to another PC and typed in DELL then no password. Then DELL and the password (that I think is the network password) but nothing.

    I am stumped....:-(
