Try opening up the Network and Sharing section in the Control Panel to click on the troubleshooting options. Sometimes you can get a quick fix with the automatic repair function if the previous network is still listed. First however you will need to open up an elevated command prompt and type in "ipconfig /release all" and press enter to wipe the now useless entries you had and then type "ipconfig /new" in order to refresh the connection in 7.

In the Network &Sharing getting back to that you may have to create a totally new network profile from scratch where you go into the Control Panel>Network&Sharing>Change Advanced sharing and settings found right under the Change adapter settings which you may end up there too.

One way to get an adapter as well as connection to refresh itself other then entering the commands at the command prompt is to temporarily disable the items found there and re-enabled a minute or so later to see if that works. The other is a trip into the device manager to look under the Network adapters grouping here to see if the yellow mark is seen in the Other devices on it instead of being in the correct location showing that is working properly or needs a driver update.

It's interesting that in the last few months I had to charge up a laptop and get all of the latest updates on as well as charging up the battery for a unit kept at a care facility for someone. The place has WiFi available there since they have one laptop they loan out so people can get online.

After bringing it back with me and reconnecting to the connection here as it had been since bought new and then bringing it back the connection to their network is as strong as always but still will not connect to the web itself. It's logs into their network just fine however. And yet the only thing that makes sense would be the last updates that went on just a couple of months ago as if in prep for 10?

I suspect when you revert back to 7 as 7 Home Premium x86 is on the laptop everything has to be reset as far as network and sharing as well as nuking the WiFi and Lan build in adapters as well as seeing them freshly detected once the drivers go on after first downloading and saving them first while you are still on the web to go to the support site. The latest upgrade and reversion also would seem to be making the network adapter's driver sets inactive due to being removed from the active Windows you see following the upgrade itself as well as 10 having updated them with something newer if available.
