I gave up and disabled my Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and switched to wireless and all is well. I just checked ReakTek's website and there are no updated drivers for Windows 10. I can only assume this is a driver issue.

I can confirm that I had this issue with the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.

    The suggestion seen below

I believe I may have resolved the issue for Realtek PCIe GBE cards, just disable energy efficiency and green ethernet settings in the advanced settings of the properties section.
works, but only if you have driver version 8.35.716.2014 dated 16/07/2014. You can download this driver over at TechSpot. Link below.

Let me know how you get on! This has so far been the only driver I have found which is stable.

    Update.

Just experienced it not even recognising the ethernet cable was plugged in. Had to disable and then re-enable it in network settings.

Still, this driver version seems to work the best for longest, and for that reason would recommend using it until they update it for Windows 10.
