Is Office 2021 the same as Office 365

As of now, is Office 2021 equivalent to Office 365, same features, etc.

Just wondering because there are all these good deals for Lifetime ownership of Office 2021. But I'm wondering if at some point, MS will not add Office 365 enhancements to Office 2021.

For now, do Office 365 and Office 2023 have the same features (and bugs)? Assuming both are fully patched up.

I'm hoping that MS releases an office 2024 soon enough. For that, I'll spring for a lifetime deal.

I know nothing about MSOffice 2023.
I know nothing about MSOffice 2024.

I'd bet that MSOffice 365 & MSOffice 2021 currently have all the same updates.

There are perennial debates about paid office and leased office 365.

People usually compare by cost but ignore factors such as a paid copy can only be run on 1 pc, but the lease version can be active on 6 pcs, (36 - 6 per person for family version), with each user getting 1 TB cloudspace, and now 30hrs Teams call instead of 1 hr without paying extra, plus it is always updated.

In the end, it is personal choice. For my working needs, office 365 is no brainer. For personal use, a relatively modern paid version is usually ok but if you factor in cloud costs, that may or may not be the best solution.

When you say Office "2023" did you mean Office 2021? There's no Office 2023 AFAIK.

Regarding features, is there anything in particular you're concerned about? Office 2021 is capable of doing far more than I will ever need, so I'm not worried that even more features will be added to a new version.

In a related thread, I asked about the persistence of minimizing the contents of a folder, that is, if you close and then open that same doc again, are the folders still minimized. The answer is NO.

Overall I agree that I will never need all the features of Office. But I don't sweat that any more, partially because I'm now retired, and don't have to produce docs with some whizbang appearance, etc.
