Is this Office 2021 deal legit? How compare with Office 365?

This price for a lifetime subscription is very, very compelling. Microsoft Office deal is down to $39 for a lifetime license | TechSpot

    Is it legit??

How does Office 2021 compare with Office 365? FWIW, I don't care about any of the "advanced" features in O 365. I just wish that Outlook would receive some love.

    Win 10 Pro 64, 2H22.

I have several of these cheap Office deals and they work fine. Check before purchase that the software will be registered in your MS account and is downloaded from official MS servers.

It is debatable if these keys are legit. I tried one out of interest and key did not work, and seller sent me another that did not work.

If you risk buying a cheap key, you risk losing your money. However for most users the cost is low enough to take the risk.

Apart from cheap key, there are many differences between O365 and O21 commercially i.e. O365 can be installed on many devices (6 active at any one time), users get 1 TB of onedrive space, all updates are parti of lease etc.

A simple comparison of prices do not really help other than telling you that you have a 1 user licence that cannot be updated without paying for it.

There are lots of these offers [and many threads about them in ElevenForum].

The Office version is MS Office 2021 Pro Plus and is a one-off purchase rather than a subscription.

Until Tuesday 13th October 2026, it will probably receive updates. Office 2021 lifecycle - MSLearn Pro Plus is not listed on any MS product lifecycle page.
It seems likely that it will receive the same*** updates as Office365 until the release of the next Office version but MS are under no obligation to supply improved functionality ['feature updates'].
[*** based on reports from Office 2016 users a few years ago in this forum]

    All the best,

I wish contributors would stop declaring such purchases are "legit" !!

The key and the product may work, whether they're legit is very much a moot point !! Pirated software and/or product keys may work, they're certainly NOT legit.

To be clear, by "legit" I meant that the offer was not a scam; I bought one copy and got a license that activated and the software worked as expected. Whether the license keys are being sold in the way that Microsoft intended is a different question. I don't know the answer to that. There's speculation in this thread that the licenses are not "legit", even though they activate, but no one seems to be certain about it.

As the OP for this thread, I DO care if this deal reflects MS pricing. I'm well aware that people sell "evaluation" licenses which are not meant for real use, and I don't want one of those.

Based on the responses in this thread, I'm going to stay with my MS Office 365 subscription. No worries that way, no problem with my wife saying,"Why isn't Outlook working today," or "what about this message saying we are using pirated software."

If the key activates and stays activated then it's legit as far as I am concerned
