    Best Alternative to MS Office

Any recommendations for a good, free alternative package to MS Office?

I only need Word, Excel and Powerpoint look alikes. Preferably without a any interference from pop ups or ads or encouragement to buy extras. I am used to OfficeXP Pro

It does, although you have to change the settings to save automatically in the standard office formats, it's really simple, and there are hundreds of tutorials and youtube videos showing how to do it.

Here is one example - How to configure LibreOffice to default to MS Office file formats | ZDNET

If you don't write VBA code for use within those MSOffice applications then LibreOffice will do everything you need.

LibreOffice is pretty similar to old versions of MSOffice - see their sample screenshots.
    LibreOffice - LibreOffice.Org
    LibreOffice Portable - LibreOffice.Org
LibreOffice grew out of OpenOffice and is now said to be the better supported & more frequently updated one.

There are lots of others. WPSOffice, for example.
The thing you'd find difficult would be finding an alternative to MSOffice Outlook but that's not relevant to your needs.
Just search online for alternative to MS Office or similar if there's some reason you don't like LibreOffice.

I like FreeOffice better than LibreOffice. I find its GUI closer to MS Office than LibreOffice. It comes with TextMaker, PlanMaker, and Presentations which are comparable to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Like LibreOffice it can read/write the current MS Office formats.

When you first start FreeOffice you can select either the current Office ribbon GUI or the classic menu GUI. However, you can switch back and forth anytime.
