    Opening Office files crashes Explorer


    Office 2013 Pro Plus. when trying to open doc or excel files maybe other files as well, Clicking on the .doc file goes unresponsive and after awhile closes but crashes explorer ie my desktop refreshes. I can open the same files using the Word or Excel, so the issue seems to be windows issue.
    This is on both my Dell and Asus Notebooks
    2004 OS Build 19041.985
    anyone else having the same issues?

    What program is being used to open the word and excel files? You mentioned later on they will open in Word or Excel so the issue must be with what program/s are set as Default for the format. Office 2013 default is the same as Office 2007 and 2010, .docx and xlsx, etc., new formats introduced with Office 2007 but all can still open Office 2003-97 files such as .doc and .xls. A diagnostic I use with such file problems is the free LibreOffice.org, works with all Office can except has no counterpart to Outlook.

i think it happens when i stress out my pc too much, but the thing is, it seems that even opening explorer (mycomputer, other folders) triggers it, and i dont think that should happen. when it does, it keeps rebooting, sometimes for 20 minutes....
