Upgrade from MSOffice 2019 to MSOffice 365

I am currently using MSOffice 2019 on the latest version of Windows 10 without issue. I have an option via work to upgrade(?) to Office 365.

Is this straightforward? Will Office 2019 be removed? Is there anything I need to do in advance to ensure a smooth upgrade?

Also, I don't use Outlook and don't want to in future.

    Many thanks,
    John.

Best to remove office 2019 first.

Re. outlook - you cannot say you do not want to use it in future as nobody knows what the future brings. Anyway, it is the Rolls Royce client.

Just do not use it - removing an integrated part of office can lead to issues.

    Hi there

If Office 2019 works for you - why switch to Office/365 which is subscription based -- I can't see any value at all in doing this. There's almost currently no difference between latest update to OFFICE 2019 and OFFICE/365 -- possibly some really "power feature" of excel which maybe 1 person in 10 million really knows how to use it.

If you were talking about Office 2010/2013/2016 then that's another issue but if you've got a valid working version of Office 2019 I'd stick with it.

latest version of Office 2019 is :

Just don't use the bits you don't want - for example I have VISIO (it came with Project 2019 which I do use) but never need or use Visio - I just don't use it - it's not worth untangling bits of an integrated suite - especially on todays computers which have (usually) plent of RAM and reasonable amount of disk apsce.

    Hi there
We have a load of Liverpool Fans here . The English pub in central Reykjavik is always jam backed on UK match days !!! - no Sat 15.00 ban on TV shows here-- desperate to see fans again in Stadia

!!!!!! I like Liverpool's manager -- who said Germans don't have a sense of humour.

    Stay safe.

Speaking from my experience here, not for the original poster.
#1. Office 365 let's me install the software on an unlimited # of devices. We have 4 people in my family. We have a mix of pc and mac. I have office installed on 6 personal computers.

#2. OneDrive space. 6TB of it. Dropbox just introduced a family plan where 6 people can share 2TB of space for $16.99 a month. That's over $203 a year for 1/3 the space, no office...at more than 2x the price.

#3. You can give away or sell your unused accounts to friends or family. For $20 a year, you could give a friend an install and they get Office on all their devices and 1TB of onedrive cloud storage space.

#4. We will always be on latest versions.

I get it ,people hate subscriptions. But for what you get, $99 a year is just dirt cheap.

We backup our pictures from our cell phones to one drive. Therefore, we never lose a picture, even if we lose or break our phones. This is my primary use of one drive.

Only complaint... you cannot customize the install. I would rather not install the whole suite on all of my computers. I do not need outlook and access everywhere.

Thanks. It does seem like my easiest/best option is to stay with Office 2019. Office 365 would be preferred if I was still working full time. But I'm now retired and "work" voluntarily for a well known charity. As regards LFC, I've been a Kopite since the early 60s, the last match I attended being the Euro Cup v Atl Madrid which had questions about Covid-19 all over it. I've had a refund for the unused part of last season but I'm still waiting to hear about seating arrangements and payments for this season.

    Hi there
In general you might be correct -- but in this case the OP already has a proper license of Office 2019 se switching at this time IMO just doesn't seem to be a worthwhile proposition.

    Old thread...same issue...

Microsoft Office Home and Business 2019 currently installed and activated. What is the most prudent procedure for upgrading to Microsoft 365? The issue of product value seems to have been the previous discussion - that is not the focus of my question.
