Keeping current Win 10 desktop icon layout when upgrading to Win 11

I need to upgrade my wife's Win 10 Pro PC to Win 11 Pro. Her biggest concern is losing her current desktop icon location setting (she has arranged the icons on the desktop to where she is familiar to look when she wants to do something). She doesn't want to start all over placing the icons again.

I can use Relcon 2.0 to take a picture of the icon placement. However, will that app be able to restore that layout after Win 11 installs?

Or is there a better way to restore her layout, if at all?

After original post: I use Stardock Start 11 on my Win 11 Pro to make the desktop look like Win 10. Would that work on her PC and then use Relcon to restore the icons?

There are various 3rd party programs that can save and restore placement.

    DesktopOK is one such.
    Download DesktopOK - MajorGeeks
Often mentioned in the various threads on Desktop icons moving...

I can only assume it would still work after an upgrade- I have no proof of that.

Personally I would not rely on desktop icon placement. There are more robust and neater ways to manage things- however I understand some people get used to working one particular way and find change hard.

(Stardock's Fences is one tool to manage desktop icons on the desktop).

Thanks. I'll give Fences a try.
