Hello and I have just noticed that along with other issues such as removing Microsoft Office (another thread), somehow I seem to have installed Window 10 Home, not the Pro version I had. The install did not ask for a product key.
How do I get there from here, metaphorically? Thinking back on my Winver problem it did say Home..........
    V 22H2 (OS Build 19045.2604)
    Help.
Just to clarify what had happened.
    - A OEM computer that came with Win 10 Home (like yours) has the Win 10 type (Home or Pro) engraved on BIOS. When you boot from a Win 10 installation drive it reads the Win 10 type (Home or Pro) engraved on BIOS and install same version. As it came with Home it has installed Home.
    - As you updated the Win 10 Home to Pro and it got activated, your computer acquired a "Digital License" for Home (original installation) and for Pro (upgrade installation).
    - As you has it installed as Home, all you have to do is to enter a generic Win 10 PRO key (VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T) like Navy has instructed. This generic Win 10 PRO will instruct to upgrade from Win 10 Home to PRO.
    - This generic Win 10 PRO is only good to upgrade from Home to Pro but isn't good to activate the Pro version.
    - Once upgrade from Home to Pro, Windows will check to see if you have a "Digital License" for Pro. As you do from the previous upgrade the new PRO installation will activate.

You can create a Ei.cfg file and paste it on the Win 10 installation /sources folder so it will force to install Pro

    Code:
    [EditionID]
    Pro
    [Channel]
    Retail
    [VL]
    0
Windows Setup Edition Configuration and Product ID Files (EI.cfg)

Thanks once again. I seemingly have, following the advice given, managed to get Windows 10 Pro installed!! Thanks to all of the members and their sharing and counsel. The explanation is what finally gave me the fortitude to proceed. Many thanks for that.
That and the mess I kept of some of my important data. I am grateful for the patience and consideration!!

Did you install as Legacy - MBR or UEFI - GPT?

    Use Disk Manager

Just checked and the ssd and the optane drive (as yet unused) are listed as GPT. Is that good or bad???? Viewing the Reliability History showed that the update failed. Other than that bad news it seems to have really installed!!??!!

Windows can be installed in two ways: Legacy-MBR or UEFI-GPT
To install as Legacy-MBR you must boot the installation drive as Legacy
To install as UEFI-GPT you must boot the installation drive as UEFI.

If you have a UEFI BIOS, you should install as UEFI-GPT
In other words, you installed as it should.

    Witch update failed?

That is a relief. I know it is UEFI. I am still not sure and to what level that means... The failure is UpgradeResultsUI.exe. I did not paste that config section before I entered the usable ID number. I feel that success is close at hand,
    Thanks

Still seems to be running as expected. No further faults listed in the Reliability History.
    Thanks
