    I don't know how long they will keep doing those deals - it is up to MS. Maybe the 5 bucks extra for upgrade will go soon, I have no idea.

    Win 8 Pro for sale on newegg.com for US$96.
    Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, OEM (French) - Newegg.com
    It's a french version, but you can use the license to install Win 10 in any language.

    Thank you all. 2 things are being considered here. And if we think about it they are the same and yet distinct: legit and legal.
    So yes, if one buys from Microsoft directly one is getting both a legal and legit copy. But, it is also my understanding that one may still be able to get a legit copy though it may not be 100% legal (where legality changes from country to country). And sometimes there is even a grey area.
    The reason why I asked here is twofold. First I agree with Signus21 here when he says, "Nothing more important than the OS you put your trusted data on so you don't want any games here. Period."
    Though many years ago I did have the odd pirated copy of this or that it has been many years whereby nothing is illegal on my computer. And even then, when I would have downloaded a pirated this and that I never would dare try it with my OS.
    What I have been hearing again and again though is people using there own CD or what-have-you to install onto their 2nd computer.
    (I may have different ethics than others here and I will not say that I am correct but I don't find it entirely correct that if I buy something (OS) other family members must pay extra if they want to use the same thing.
    If I buy an LP I have no problem in making a CD of it to play on my wife's CD player, a tape of it for playing it on my tape player and an MP3 and play it on my son's player. I did buy the original LP (A copy of many LPs) hence I can do what I want with it. Again I could see how others may see it differently but.....

    @pintree3,

    Purchase a Windows 7, 8, or 10 product key from the lowest source you feel comfortable with. Run it through Showkey Plus available from this forum to set what type of key you receive. Activate your Windows with it. If it fails, the worst that happens is your Windows loses activation and you will need to purchase another product key.

    Or try to move your existing license using your Microsoft Account.

    Thnx again NavyLCDR. I've seen keys being sold on Amazon (or was it eBay) for as little as $6 which make me wonder. I assume that running it through Showkey Plus may show it as good but then wouldn't there be a risk that 6 months later or a year later it would no longer be good? That is what I read somewhere regarding such keys (though Showkey Plus was never mentioned and it is the first time I hear of it).
    I think I have about 4-5 days left before I get all of my hardware delivered.

    Sorry Sn00ker I am no sure I understand what you mean."they will come back for the Pro version as Win 10 RTM Professional Retail" Are you suggesting that if I were to buy the pro version (I am interested in the home version only sinc it is for personal home use) that the result is ''Win 10 RTM Professional".?
    Assuming I were to buy that one, what does it mean? I am asking because would buying the home version come up with a similar result like "Win 10 RTM Home"?

    Purchasing the Pro version of Windows 10 is something that I would strongly recommend, as the ability to set up and control the Pro version is much better than the abilities of Home version to do. The Home version of Windows 10 is similar to a phone operating system in that it makes most decisions for the user rather than providing a choice, and is missing the tools to change things
