I'm about to get 1803 -Should I be worried?

I have read many, many problems encountered by users after 1803 was applied to their system.
In fact there are web sites devoted to 'common problems after installing v1803'

I can see mine will be applied when I next re-start.

    Should I be concerned?

    Your thoughts?

    Hi Jeddie

I've only had one problem with updates over the years, my 1803 update working fine so no problems here, over the pond!

I have downloaded and attempted to install 1803 four times. Each time there was an abend and the installation rolled back. Now, I have received two updates to 1709. I installed KB4131372 and KB4103727 successfully on 5/13/2018. They are associated with build 1709. To date, I cannot installed 1803 successfully,

Personally I think one should always be concerned with these updates. However, 1803 actually went smoothly on both of these machines. Haven't had a real problem since the install. Good luck @Jeddie.

I have an older laptop and 1803 took a long time but seemed to install fine, other than now my screen is always on 100% brightness and I am unable to adjust it any more. Just that one problem may prompt me to roll it back to the previous version. But I'll wait for a bit to see if it clears up with any minor updates in the near future. The 1803 download and update all happened automatically (after prompting me). So the Microsoft analysis determined that there would be no issues with the upgrade evidently.

Microsoft put blocks in place for PCs with known issues that prevents windows update from seeing 1803 until a fix is in place.

If windows update has automatically downloaded the 1803 update it means there are no known issues for your PC, so the chances are good that it will go smoothly.

I updated manually on 30 April, but I checked for updates before doing so and windows update said 1803 was available for my machine. The manual update went well.

What issues I have in 1803 are minor, and will probably be addressed in the next cumulative update. This has been the case for all previous features updates, so in that respect 1803 is no different for any previous version in its first days.

1803 was the fourth on this Laptop.
Each one has had minor problems but not major enough to go back to the previous version.
Which I can do as always do an image before the version update.

It is always worrying, particularly on a regularly used machine, that's how it is now, and of course going to be every 6 months.

2 weeks on and most of the minor problems have been sorted by a cumulative update and updating about 50+ UWPs, one of which had to be uninstalled and reinstalled.

No worse than the other 3 version updates done.

People who complain of problems are almost always those who already have problems with their PC/Laptop. Try and force an early update, have system mods they don't uninstall, still using half dead HDDs and so on, a very long list of possibilities which they don't mention.
