Whoops repeated post.
Yeah I think I'll go round up some more. It runs really well and has been for years now. I think I found some super ghetto back alley stuff that I put in there.
Well, I guess that partially answers why the installer thinks that you have less than 2GB of RAM.
I can't imagine that the PC would run well in Windows 7 if you could only access 64MB. I've never seen anything like it.
It'd be interesting to run the Windows Memory diagnostic, to see how much RAM it sees and whether the RAM is defective or not.
Diagnosing memory problems on your computer
I have a Dell Latitude D630c running Win 7 Ultimate x64, it came with 1GB of ram and a 2nd GB was added over time, before finally upgrading to 8GB about 18 months ago. Win 7 sees the 8GB of the ram and has worked flawlessly since installed. Win 10 update complains that I need at least 2GB of ram. I still had the 2 x 1GB sodimms, so I down graded to 2GB for the upgrade, then swapped back the 2 x 4GB sodimms after the upgrade. That worked for me.
Well as an update I'm still in a pickle. Upgraded and bought a LOT of ram (up to 16gb). System information installed memory as 15.7gb, task manager says 16.1 gigs total with over 13g available and 7g free, belarc lists each memory stick installed as... 32mb (X4). Ive noticed a noticeable but not huge improvement in system performance... BUT the Windows 10 installer still insists I do not have the 2gb installed.
It seems Belarc and the installer both use the same method that disagrees with everything else on the amount I have installed.
I have Dell Latitude D830 Laptop. The upgrade from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 7 was giving error saying I don't have enough RAM even if I had 8 GB RAM.
I had to update my BIOS to the latest BIOS and it started reading my 8 GB RAM. Then I could upgrade Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10. Hope it helps someone out there with similar issues.
